Discussion: Street naming in the new developments

October 27, 2015 at 1:02 pm 7 comments

Tamworth Borough Council are interested to find out your views on the naming of streets within the new developments at Tinkers Green and Kerria.

Do you think the developments should be given new street names or keep the old ones? If you think they should be renamed do you have any ideas about how new names should be selected or what the new names should be? Please leave a comment.

The names of roads have been around in tinkers green for many many years,i think the names should stay the same ,locals know them and can tell new comers or visitors in an instant where roads they are looking for can be found, please don’t change things too much,or it won’t be tinkers green any more.

Great idea to change the current names of the proposed New developments. Both areas have been associated with ASB issues in one form or another in the past so it would be most refreshing to see the New builds and attached areas bring something shiny and fresh instead of remembering what the old names meant to many a resident in Tamworth.

    Many Thanks, Brian

What about some of the council houses on tinkers green Rd.
Some of them desperately need up dating like installing gas central heating and a new boiler.
Some of them still have storage heating and the big boilers….it’s impossible to keep the water hot and takes ages to warm up.
And they don’t have showers either which would be easier for families.
I’m not ungrateful I love me house but in the winter times its terribly cold with storage heating.
Can you let us know if in the near future these homes will be updated with gas central heating please.
    Many thanks.

There are no specific investment plans linked with the regeneration project and any future investment will be based on our knowledge of the stock and carried out on the basis of need.
We have no plans for wholesale fuel swaps – so swapping out storage heaters to gas is unlikely.
Gas boilers are being renewed on a priority basis, with the oldest and least efficient boilers being renewed first.
We do not install showers as part of our refurbishment programmes other than under a disabled adaptation.
